Wrap Frames

When a patient is interested in a wrap style frame, the Rx should be reviewed.

An Rx that falls in the range of Sph.-3.00 to (+Sph. “anything almost”), is ideal. Care needs to be taken with a large cyl, which can drop the base curve lower. The lens material best suited for wraps is polycarbonate. Poly retains the wrap shape, and is available in most progressive lens styles. Polarized Poly is a great lens for wraps.
If the Rx falls outside this range, the lab must make adjustments to the wrap and the lens bevel placement. This will cause the frame to have less wrap or the lens may protrude abnormally out of the frame.
